Broida workshops were born to create a space to learn, relax, explore your creativity through mindful making, and inspire people to pick up handwork techniques regardless of experience or skill. The guided tutorial style provide support and take away the intimidation of taking up a new craft. Styles and designs in the workshops reflect a contemporary elevated aesthetic and help you develop your own style and patterns.
The workshops are designed to support you through the stitching process and learn side-by-side with like-minded people in a social group setting. The different workshops provide an opportunity for those wanting to explore embroidery or handwork for the first time or those experienced wishing to become re-inspired and learn new techniques.
Material costs are included in the workshops or as otherwise defined in the workshop description.

Intro to Cross Stitch
Have you been wanting to take up a creative hobby but don’t know where to start? Or have you been wanting to try embroidery but maybe the current offerings haven’t been inspiring? This is your chance to learn how to create your own needlework through contemporary elevated designs and mindful making. Join us for a fun, hands-on workshop to learn the basics of the satisfyingly simple but effective cross-stitch embroidery and get started on your very own cross-stitch design kit to take away with you.
Jazz it Up
Do you have clothing or fabric you’re looking to jazz up and customise or add some extra flair to? This is your chance to build on the basics of cross-stitch and apply it beyond the canvas to your own clothing, accessories and textiles using the wash-away method. In this workshop, you will learn how to use the technique on your own item and create a design, pattern, or symbol. This workshop encourages and enables you to extend the life of your clothes and accessories and give them some new creative flair.
Examples of items could include t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, fabric/canvas tote bags, napkins or tablecloths and the likes. These could be blank, or maybe it’s to cover a mark or a stain.
Make Your Own Design
Got into cross-stitch, and now you’re ready to add your own creative flair? This workshop builds on the lessons in the introductory workshop and guides you along the process of creating your own cross-stitch design and the different techniques to get you there. We will go through the design making techniques from freehand drawing on grid paper to computer techniques, and then you will get started on stitching your own creation to take away with you.

Broida offers special private workshops for groups of 5 - 18 people at your chosen location. Whether it's a staff function, baby shower, birthday, or other special occasions, our group workshops are a fun, relaxed and social way to get creative. Workshops are structured in a step-by-step process, suitable for any level and all materials and equipment provided. All different workshop themes are available and can be tailored, just get in touch, and we can discuss. Pricing will vary for different sized groups. Each participant leaves with their own cross-stitch embroidery design to continue working on. Workshops can be held either at your location or one of Broida’s venues.
